The rules and regulations for this event have been set for the following reasons:
1. To allow the rookie or novice demo driver to have as much a chance to win as the experienced driver. 2. To make this sport affordable to everyone, the rules are also set to save on expensive parts, set up time and miles of welding wire. 3. By following these rules at the end of the derby most of these cars will be eliminated. Entry fee is $25.00 vehicle
Prize money for feature is as follows:
First Place: Trophy and $500.00
Second Place: Trophy and Prize money 60% of the kitty (TBD)
Third Place: Trophy and 40% of the kitty (TBD) Please note these vehicles will be re-inspected after the derby!!!
SAFETY RULES
1. You must have a helmet with eye protection. 2. You must have a working seatbelt. 3. You must wear long pants, no shorts. 4. Driver door must be painted FLOURESCENT ORANGE. 5. Each vehicle must have a fire extinguisher located within the drivers reach.
DRIVING RULES
1. You must make contact every 60 seconds. You must give not receive. 2. Do not hit the drivers’ door. If you see FLOURESCENT ORANGE do not hit it!!! 3. Excessive smoking will be disqualified. 4. Sandbaggers will be disqualified. 5. Red Flag means stop, someone is hurt or there is a fire. Pay attention! 6. The last car to make a hit will be deemed the winner. Track Officials’ decision is final!
CAR PREPARATION FOR ALL VEHICLES
1. Absolutely no welding is allowed anywhere on your car, unless otherwise noted below, no matter how small. You will be sent home (Crying). 2. Any passenger car, Pre-derbied cars are acceptable as long as they are not reinforced or welded. 3. Remove all glass (Windshield Optional). Doors must be clean and free of glass. 4. Remove all lights and molding or anything that can be knocked loose onto the track. 5. Rear differential may be locked or welded for posi-traction. 6. Fuel tank may be moved inside of the car, forward of the rear wheels and behind the front seat. Fuel tank must be marine type plastic or metal, six (6) gallon maximum. Fuel tank must be secure and deemed safe by the inspectors. You must cover the fuel tank. 7. Battery may be moved to passenger side front floor and must be covered with a rubber mat. If battery is left in place, spray foam cannot exceed 6 inches from battery. 8. All anti-freeze must be removed, water only in radiator. 9. Drivers’ door (only) may be welded with a maximum 12 inches on each seam (fender, backside and bottom). You may install a maximum 3 inch pipe or tube behind the driver seat from side to side for safety reasons only. 12” long by 6” wide square plates at each end is acceptable, this may be welded in. 10. Hood and trunk may be chained or wired shut in four places only after inspection. Wire must be #9 gauge maximum, two (2) strands per hole. Hood and trunk may be wired or chained around through bumpers in two (2) of these holes. Wire may only go through sheet metal, not through frame. 11. Motor mounts and transmission mounts may be wired, chained or welded. 12. Any air filled tire is acceptable. 13. Fender wells may be cut for clearance; however, they may not be welded, rolled or re-attached for strength. 14. Shifting linkage may be hooked up direct to the transmission. Shifter handle must be safe. 15. All transmission lines must be disconnected from the radiator to prevent oil spills. A transmission cooler may be installed under the hood or the lines must be looped. 16. There must be must be a 6” X 6” opening in the hood. 17. Exhaust may be exited through the hood. 18. Suspension must be stock, no added leaf springs or heavier than stock to that vehicle coil springs. You may use one piece of chain no larger than 5/16” Diameter at each wheel area to set desired height. 19. Pick-up trucks must weld, bolt or wire bed securely to the cab. 20. Be Safe… Have Fun!
